Tower Crane Crashed Down In NUS
A tower crane at the construction site of the new alumni house in NUS came crashing down this afternoon. It smashed through a walkway shelter and just missed a crowded bus stop and an internal shuttle bus. Three workers died in this accident. The place was crawling with police, campus security, reporters. Fire engines and ambulance were also dispatched to the site.
Here’s another photo, taken from ground level, looking at the tip of the crane that smashed down a section of the walkway shelter.
I happened to be in the vicinity, although I was indoors when the tower crane came down and didn’t hear anything. It was quite shocking to hear about the accident. In fact, when I initially got wind about it, I thought the story was mis-conveyed or exaggerated.

Condolence to the family of the victims. Must be very traumatic experience for the family of the three deceased.
Cannot really see the collapse scene from your photo. Really interested to see the whole collapse on video. I work as a safety professional. Let me know if you know someone caught the accident on tape. Some before accident photos would be good too. Thanks.
Yeah that was posted from Lifeblog earlier, the image resolution is reduced. I’ve reposted the photo, though not quite close enough (I was at rooftop of nearby building).
Thanks a lot for the photos. I’ve placed a link to this post in my blog (http://safetyhub.net/wordpress/?p=37). Do let me know if you have more photos or info on the accident (besides those already on the newspaper). Cheers!
