Hawaii Day One

20091218056Day one in Hawaii was spent doing nothing touristy. Not unless recovering from a long trip is considered a touristy activity. When traveling with kids, especially infants, I think everyone, adults and the children, all get very tired. So the entire day was just spent recovering from the trip. I took about a 1.5 hour nap in the afternoon. I’ve travelled much longer distances before, but I think this time is definitely most tiring. When I woke up, I was like in a daze. Suddenly all the muscles in the body remembered they were tired and overworked.

Probably the most significant event of the day was Ian’s incessant crying through the night. I think he basically cried practically through, except for brief “rest periods”, from 9pm till like 3am the next morning. I imagined that he will eventually give up to exhaustion and agree to go to sleep, but I had not expected to “fight” for six hours. Well, we won, and by the time he finished with milk feed and such, it was like 4am. Really long night. I actually went online to see if there were any suggestions on what to do… but well, nothing that we’ve not already read about before.

I hope none of the other nights (might as well say days too) will be anything like the first.
