Non-Ceritified CPR+AED Training

I attended a “non-certified” CPR+AED training course yesterday. Yes, the “non-certified” was part of the course title. I thought perhaps what they meant to convey was that this course doesn’t lead you to formal CPR certification. Well, that was correct. But after attending the course… I begun to think there was an additional meaning: The course trainers were also not certified to conduct a proper training!

Ford GT Spotted In NUS

Yes. Was on the way to lunch today when I spotted a cool Ford GT sitting outside LT27 this afternoon. It’s there to promote the Formula Drift Singapore event later next month. — Posted from my N95 Lifeblog.

Major Problems from Hairline Crack

A tiny hairline crack, but it still takes a significant effort to rectify it. Can you spot the crack? That tiny crack led to water leak which is a significant issue in a data centre. The problem erupted two weekends ago when our water leak detection system signaled an alarm. Initially, it looked like it might be a problem with condensation on the chill water pipe. However, after ripping away some insulation to track down the source of the water…

NTUC Selling Off Obsolete Products

Why is NTUC Income trying to sell their customers obsolete products? I received this email advertisement from them recently, and I was rather surprised to see they were selling a Toshiba HD DVD drive for $213. Is NTUC Income aware of the HD DVD vs BluRay war? In particular, that HD DVD has officially lost after Toshiba, the principal proponent of the HD DVD format, had announced they’ve thrown in the towel on 19 Feb 2008?

Teaching People to Work Together

It’s funny how when we are small kids, we don’t need to be taught to get together to have fun. Yet when we grow up, oraganizations spend large sums of money to teach adults how to work together. Team building is becoming an important thing for many companies. Today I was called back to a RSAF team building event; Last Friday, my work place organized a team building retreat at Orchid Country Club.

The RSAF Cordially Invites Me

The RSAF cordially invited me… not to be a VIP guest at the next air show, but to attend a Team Building event. How sweet. Perhaps if it doesn’t clash with any appointments, I might drop by. But no! It’s not optional… because they also issued a SAF100A! For what it’s worth, the Team Building is not in an army camp. Guess where? Country club! (Well, a SAFRA country club…) Nice to see the SAF becoming so people-oriented.

Do You Want Help to Locate Mas Selamat?

What is wrong with our police? Or our Home Affairs ministry? Do they want help, or do they not want help to track down and locate Mas Selamat? I cannot understand why little bits of information is taking so long to get out. First, we got photos of how he looked: One clean shaven and another with a goatie. Only later then do we get a side view photo. Were the photos not available since day one?

Fighter Jets Nipping Around

Ok, the airshow is over, it’s not yet NDP. Why are there fighter jets nipping around? Just heard one of them roaring past my home at about 12:25pm. The jet appeared to be circling around, and made a few passes (or perhaps there were a few jets, I can’t tell, I don’t live high enough to have an unobstructed view of the sky). I wonder what’s up? I wonder if it’s a show of superiority over the JI escapee incident?…
