To welcome a colleague back to work from maternity leave, all of us had lunch at the new NUSS Guild House yesterday. It seems the old western restaurant has been replaced by The Scholar Chinese Restaurant. That’s where we had lunch. The restaurant was, surprisingly, fully packed. Fortunately we were early so we still managed to get a table.

Wedding Lunch
It’s interesting how different phases of our lives are marked by the types of events that we attend. For example, there are the stages of chalets and BBQ, then wedding dinners, then baby first months, etc. Sometimes it cycles, because of the “next generation”. I’m actually past the wedding banquet phase, but I was just invited to one wedding lunch earlier this month.
The Scholar Chinese Restaurant
This scholarly chinese restaurant at the new NUS Guild House serves up pretty good coffee flavoured pork ribs. The other dishes were quite mediocre though. — Posted from my N95 Lifeblog.
Sun With Moon Japanese Dining
This is the Goshoimo Mentaiko Cheese Yaki (baked potato with spicy cod roe and mozzarella cheese) from Sun With Moon Japanese Dining at Wheelock Place. This is yummy. Takes 15 mins to serve. — Posted from my N95 Lifeblog.
Checking Out The Honda Stream
Why do they make cars so child-unfriendly nowadays? It’s so difficult to reach for anything. My other cars are so much easier to move around in, and cost so much less! — Posted from my N95 Lifeblog.
Preparing Simplicity for WordPress 2.7
WordPress version 2.7 beta 2 was released yesterday, with the final version 2.7 expected end of this month. There are significant new features, some of which require some updates to themes to support the new functionality. I’ve started to update my WordPress theme Simplicity to support the new version 2.7 features. I’d guess Simplicity is probably one of the earliest to update support for 2.7.
Dark Secrets Of M1 Fixed Broadband
I’ve found a few misfeatures of M1 Fixed Broadband that are significant enough to be show stoppers for me. Although these are not really secrets or purposely hidden misfeatures, they are not obviously stated up-front. I believe the more “techie” broadband users would not tolerate such misfeatures too, so I thought I will share about them before anyone commits themselves to a subscription contract.
Excursion to Singapore Flyer
After one postponement due to bad weather, and another due to scheduling difficulties, we finally made our excursion “flight” on the Singapore Flyer. Personally, after having gone up enough ferris wheels, observation towers, etc, I had not expected to be particularly exhilarated by the views from atop the Singapore Flyer. But being a Singaporean and living in Singapore, it is something we have to try. So we went on the 6pm flight in order to catch the view of Singapore…
Seafood Mee Sua
Dinner today was at Suntec Guild House Bristro. This is their Seafood Mee Sua. Taste just like beehoon. Not the first time I’ve tried fried mee sua that tastes like beehoon. Maybe they really are quite the same? — Posted from my N95 Lifeblog.
RSAF 40th Anniversary
It’s the RSAF’s 40th anniversary this year. The last couple of years, the RSAF (and to some extent Mindef as a whole as well) seems to be making lots of effort to reach out to its “men” in more personal ways, to re-invent itself and to run itself like a modern private corporation. This is not bad, of course, since there are certainly some things that military organizations can learn from the private sector too.
