I wonder if Google has become more generous with their PageRank scoring? I just noticed my homepage cum blog site upgraded to PageRank 5, with at least one other internal page even scoring PageRank 6. Is this little site becoming a small-time hit? What is even more interesting is that the website of my work organization scores PageRank 9! (They are surely getting somewhere with their goal to become “world class”!)

Old Eateries Turn High-Tech
I’m quite surprised to see some of the “traditional” kind of eateries turning high-tech. The kind of oldish places with long established fame and huge loyal customer bases. They don’t need air-conditioning, pleasant ambience, good service, etc and which will still continue to pull in crowds. But they invest in high-tech.
Caring For End-Users’ Security
In the past, most companies don’t care. They do sell products with security features, but the features are turned off by default because they usually make the product more difficult to setup and use, and customers may get turned off by the complexity of getting the product to work. Fortunately, some companies are now trying to make security easy. They are putting some extra effort to take care of their customers’ interests.
Web-based Counter Strike Like Game
It isn’t Counter Strike itself. But it is a pretty good first-person-shooter (FPS) type game. Sure there are many other FPS games around. But this one is a web-based game! Just this alone makes it so impressive that you’ve got to check it out. Yes, no kidding, this FPS plays right out of your web browser. I was so amazed.
Apple Announcements From Macworld 2009
Macworld 2009 is underway right now. This will be the last Macworld for Apple, and Philip Schiller took Steve Jobs’ place to give Apple’s keynote at the event. Apple had three product announcements: iLife ’09, iWork ’09 and the new aluminum unibody 17″ MacBook Pro. Nothing revolutionary like the iPhone of 2007 or MacBook Air of 2008. These are mainly evolutionary product updates.
Linksys WRT610N Dual Band Router
Last weekend, a Linksys WRT610N became the latest addition to the networking gear I have at home. It replaces my trusty old WRT54G which was starting to go bonkus after serving for many years. I have been thinking about upgrading my wireless broadband router for some time. In fact, I was considering StarHub’s free Apple Time Capsule promotion last year. It does 802.11N wireless, Gigabit Ethernet wired ports, includes 500GB or 1TB of storage and printer connection sharing.
Car Wash Exercise
Washing a car for one hour burns 314 calories, according to the Health Status Calculator, for a person weighing about 70kg. My 2.4km jog burns only 171 calories. It seems more fun to be washing car than to jog 2.4km. Well, except that one hour is a long time, and I don’t have a lot of hour-long time slots to spare.
Vanessa At Coffee Bean
Not coffee, but Vanessa is quite happy to just have ice water. In fact we can keep here quite happy with just ice chips. She loves sucking on the ice chips. So while Papa and Mama has Black Forest Mocha and Moroccan Mint Latte, Vanessa settles down with her cups of iced water and ice chips.
Perfect Half Boiled Eggs
It seems like getting perfect half boiled eggs is something quite difficult to ask for. I wonder how Ya Kun does it? We were at Wan Chai Hong Kong Tea Room at IMM recently. Their half boiled eggs came out way too raw. They redid the eggs. They still came out way too raw. Most of the whites were still colourless. They did it the third time, and this time it came out over done. Needless to say, I was…
New Garo on New Year’s Eve
We’re back again at the New Garo Japanese Restaurant on New Year’s eve. We visit the place so often, I think they ought to give us a loyalty discount. In fact, we often order roughly about the same things too… (you can tell from the many similar photos on this blog site) … they ought to just make these complimentary food items for us!
