KFC Delivery Experience

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

280220092022We ordered KFC delivery today for an office event. It’s the first time for me. I think the order taking service could be very much improved. The first thing they needed was my address, so I gave it to them. They put me on hold, for almost like 5 minutes, before coming back just for a brief moment to tell me to wait a little longer. Then I was on hold again for a while. When they came back again, I quickly interrupted them and demanded to know why was I on hold for so long.

Fastest Web Browser For Now

Friday, February 27th, 2009

safari-4-beta-about-boxApple recently announced the availability of Safari 4 Beta for public download, which they claimed to be the world’s fastest browser. This is so, according to CNet’s benchmark of JavaScript rendering performance, using the SunSpider suite of JavaScript tests. Oddly enough, ComputerWorld’s testing using the same benchmark suite found Google’s Chrome to be just marginally faster. But certainly, the new Safari 4 Beta is running circles around IE8 and Firefox.

Blogging Updates

Friday, February 27th, 2009

photo-15Firstly, I’ve just updated my Simplicity theme for WordPress. I’m quite encouraged by all the feedback, particularly now that there are also plenty of suggestions for improvement. Head over to the WordPress Theme Directory to download a copy to try it out. The latest update fixes two things: centered page when configured with a fixed page width smaller than the browser window, and page tab effect to mark a tab that is the currently viewed page. Simple tweaks.

Breakfast With Vanessa

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

250220092000I took Vanessa out for breakfast yesterday. We went to the Botanic Gardens after dropping mummy off at work. I was really surprised at how crowded the Botanic Gardens was on a weekday. There’s a queue getting into the car park in the weekend mornings, but the queue moves. Yesterday, the queue to the nearer car park was simply not moving. I gave up and tried the alternate car park. It was still a long long wait. When I finally got to go in, the car park was in fact still full. I couldn’t find any empty lots, and had to hang around further. I think I must have spent like 30 mins getting my car parked.

Vanessa Is Angry With Me

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

img_2125Yeah, she was angry with me last night. It’s quite easy to tell. I came home slightly late. She was watching TV, and totally ignored me and didn’t want to “hew” me at all. We usually go out for a walk, but she was not interested last night. I had to tempt her with some money to go buy drinks from the vending machine before her interest was aroused. Mummy had brought her to the zoo in the morning. Papa didn’t go, because he had to work. Too many things to do at work. Then, papa came didn’t go pick her up after work either. So I guess Vanessa was upset.

Cup Cakes From ECreative

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

220220091979These cup cakes are from ECreative. Looks nice. But I think the ones I previously posted about are better. The design and colours are somehow more attractive, and the taste is nicer too. But perhaps the ECreative one is more economical. I think cup cakes are nowadays a more interesting alternative to having a whole cake. They usually look prettier, and they are so much easier to divide out. In fact, there’s nothing to divide, since they are already all individual cakes!

50 Missed Calls

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

180220091947I’m impressed. I’m so popular, in just one workday, I achieved a record breaking 50 new missed calls. Yes, people keep calling and calling me, no answer on the office phone, redirects out to my handphone, which has no signal because I spent much of the day somewhere with no phone coverage. Then they’ll try again.

Memories In The Internet Age

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

13122008791A little just over a decade ago, we were still flipping photos through a physical album. How things have changed so much in the last 10 odd years. First of all, there were digital cameras. Then there was Web 2.0 and online photo galleries. Add to it digital videos. Before you know it, all your memories are captured electronically. For some people, their memories are uploaded to the “Cloud”. Some of whom, their memories are only in the “Cloud”. Do you worry that these electronic memories could suddenly vanish?

My Take On Hotel Ibis Singapore

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

140220091889I stayed my one night at Hotel Ibis the last weekend. It’s a pleasant hotel, but here are a few things they could improve on.

There are a few things that I’d imagine would be terribly easy to fix. They were probably just an oversight. Or perhaps they just hadn’t gotten around to getting those things done yet. First thing is the lack of peep holes on the doors of the hotel room. The second thing is the lack of clock/alarm clock in each room. I’m not sure if it affects all rooms, but the water pressure from my shower head is ridiculously low, even though the water pressure from the other taps were excellent. My colleague complained or erratic wireless signal from his room (opposite end from where I had my room).
