This is the newly opened Bishamon Sapporo Ramen branch at Bukit Panjang Plaza. They take over the unit that used to be occupied by Osim, just opposite Cafe Cartel on level one. I had the shoyu mini-ramen with unagi and tamago donburi set. It costs $16.70 (IIRC). The shoyu soup was tasty. I was told it was slightly spicy, even though I didn’t feel it so myself. The ramen was nice. The unagi was nice too, although there were tiny…

Fish Soup at Alexandra Village
This is the famous fish soup, pig organ soup stall at Block 124 Bukit Merah Lane 1. I had the fried fish mee sua. The fish is really nice. The soup very tasty. The chilli’s good too. The mee sua was clumpy though. — Posted from my N95 Lifeblog.
The New Operating System
Virtualization is not new to me. I’m now using a variety of virtualization platforms like VMware Server, Linux KVM and Xen. VirtualBox has become the most recent platform that I’m exploring, and that started some time last year. But it’s only now that I’ve got Windows XP running beautifully in VirtualBox hosted on Mac OS X and Linux platforms that my excitement in desktop virtualization has been renewed. Having 4GB of RAM on my MacBook helps a lot too.
Booting Windows XP on MacBook
After procrastinating for too long, I’ve finally gotten around to installing Windows XP into my MacBook. I’m impressed, Windows XP boots up in 20 seconds. It has never been that fast on my other previous computers. It’s not even running natively on my MacBook (i.e. via Boot Camp). I never really like dual-booting to choose and switch between two operating systems. I want to have both OS environments at the same time. Virtualization is the solution to what I need.
Changi Cheapo Terminal
A few weeks ago, I visited our world renowned Changi Airport. Specifically, it was the Cheapo Budget Terminal that I went to. I was very curious about the terminal. I have read a little about how the Budget Terminal is more budget conscious than the regular terminals, but seeing it for real is a lot more telling. My first impression was that the Budget Terminal was simple, like a smallish airport one would expect to find in lesser travelled locations…
Really Expensive Car Wash
$15 car wash? I was quite surprised that car wash has become so expensive. Over the weekend, I was at the car wash at one of the SPC petrol station. The attendant informed me that the car wash price was $13, without vacuuming. I was shocked. I thought it should have been $6. Perhaps I had heard wrong. While the car was being washed, I looked at the price list put up on the wall. $7 for a saloon car,…
Yoshoku Kitchen
I visited Yoshoku Kitchen a while ago for lunch. It’s a Japanese restaurant located at Serene Centre. One of the highlights of the restaurant is their a la carte Japanese buffet, which they serve for $29 (if my memory serves me correctly). The a la carte buffet menu lists a good selection of a little over a hundred items. The food served is pretty good. The sashimi is relatively good too, although I hesitate to be generous with my praises…
Lamb Chop At Earle Swenson’s
Not really up to my expectations. Too much fat in the meat, which is surprising since I usually don’t mind fatty meat. The salad buffet that comes with it isn’t all that great either. — Posted from my N95 Lifeblog.
Entertaining Vanessa With Food
One of the ways of keeping Vanessa entertained is to feed her. There are a few kinds of food that she never grows tired of. French fries is one of them. So here’s Vanessa with Daddy chilling out in a southern part of Singapore, while it is raining, and Mummy is (probably) fast asleep, and Daddy is having a Singapore Sling and updating this blog.
Variable Pricing at iTunes
Just as Apple had said at MacWorld, variable pricing for music sold at the iTunes store has started. What used to be a flat rate US$0.99 per song, is now spread across three price tiers at US$1.29, US$0.99, and US$0.69. Economically this makes sense, but I’m sure many customers would rather just continue to have the US$0.99 flat rate because, obviously, now all the popular songs are going to cost more.
