Carelessness is Costly

A sign stuck on the tables at a NUS canteen reminds people that carelessness is costly. People are being reminded not to leave belongings unattended. Belongings such as wallets, bags, handphones and notebook computers. I thought to myself, it’s stupidity that is costly here. Why do people leave valuable belongings such as notebook computers unattended in NUS canteens?

Aren’t we supposed to be in the midst of a economic crisis? The latest round of COE prices is showing a clear upward trend in prices. The big car category for example, rose from $200 in January to top out now at $16801.

Google Operating System

It’s something many people have speculated for some time. Google’s secret agenda is to take over the world. First, the Google Chrome browser. Now the cat is out of the bag: Google is embarking on the Google Chrome Operating System. They describe this as a natural extension of their browser project. Perhaps so.

Supermarket Trolley Carts

I was at Cold Storage yesterday to pick up a few items, and a new gadget there caught my attention. It’s “Futurecart”. It has a LCD screen mounted at the end of the cart. That’s nothing terribly futuristic about it, but it is certainly an evolutionary development of the same old supermarket trolley carts that have served us for decades.

Ignore all the Apple marketing for a moment, the iPhone 3G S now finally has all the major features…

Some H1N1 Humour

After an extended period of harassment from H1N1, people at the office started to turn to some dry H1N1 humour. Even as the Singapore Government turns to mitigation, some other places still implement quarantine and work segregation plans. Colleagues are now discouraged from interacting with each other through direct contact. As a result, we are depending a lot on the telephone.

Using the N97′s Compass

It’s funny how some gadgets are not so intuitive to use that one needs to find help. Fortunately Google comes to the rescue. It’s the Nokia N97′s digital compass that I did not know how to use. I would have expected to run an app, and the compass would just work. Like, for example, how Nokia Maps would read the compass information to automatically orientate the map display according to where the phone was facing.
