Vanessa Eyes a $1K Bed
We went out to United Square a few days ago for some ice cream. The very budget conscious Vanessa chose McDonald’s over Ben and Jerry’s. After that, while baby Ian went to have his diaper changed, Vanessa and me waited outside. We were just at the corner where there is a Flexa shop located, which sells children’s beds. Vanessa noticed and was attracted to it. She strolled over to admire the beds. She turned back to look at me, I…
Brunch at Casa Verde
We were recently at Casa Verde, the restaurant at the Botanic Gardens’ Visitor Centre, for brunch. It was almost at the end of the breakfast time. As a result, we ordered both from the breakfast menu as well as from their lunch menu. The food at Casa Verde is pretty nice. We have had dinner once, and the rest of the times were for breakfast. This would be the first time we’re trying their lunch menu.
We Dine at New Garo Yet Again

It comes with chawanmushi, a few tempura prawns, cold cha soba, some pickles and fruits. Vanessa had her usual “main course” of chawanmushi.
Mid-Autumn Mooncake Harvest
It’s going to be the mid-autumn festival this weekend. Over the past week or so, we have been receiving boxes of mooncakes from various corporate partners. The most unique packaging has to be the one from Conrad Centennial (pictured on left). Each mooncake is individually contained in a round box, four of these boxes are stacked into a large cylindrical case. It looks like a tingkat container. The packaging is quite high quality, although it might not be so obvious…
Lousy Service at Fish and Company
We were recently at the Fish and Company restaurant in Velocity. It looks just like any other Fish and Company restaurants, and the food tastes just as good, especially their famed Fish and Chips. But the service was horrendous. Water must also be extremely precious at this restaurant because we found it very difficult to get our glasses of water served. We asked for three glasses of iced water. None came. We reminded, then only two glasses were served.
