This is my order of Caramel Frappuccinno, “no whip”, at Starbucks recently. That’s what they served, in the photo. It has whipped cream. Have you noticed, even though the coffee joints like Starbucks and Coffee Bean always ask if you want whipped cream, often the order comes out served with whipped cream anyway even if you said you didn’t want it? It has happened to me countless times!

Test Your Skills at Outdoing SingTel and StarHub
Cisco recently made available an interesting simulation game called myPlanNet. If you’ve played SimCity, as I’m sure most people are familiar with, you’d find some of the concepts similar. In myPlanNet, you are the CEO of a service provider, and what you do is to manage your business as it evolves through the different eras from primitive dial-up, through broadband and mobile connectivity, into the futuristic (although certainly not farfetched) medianet age.
$166 Million Jackpot Malfunction
In a report from WFTV, a man in Daytona Beach, Florida, hit the jackpot of about US$166 million, or so the slot machine says, but was told he will not get a single cent because the machine had probably malfunctioned. It’s such an anti-climax. I imagine the man will probably sue the casino for some money, even if not for the entire US$166 million.
A Tag Heuer Fingerprint On Display
You’d have expected that an upmarket retail shop like that of Tag Heuer would be a picture of perfection. Neat, pristine and clean. It almost seems like the fingerprint was planted on…
Electronic Payments Not For All Merchants
Here’s what a merchant did with his EZ-Link payment terminal: Shelved neatly inside a glass display. Nice to look at, but not to be used. I’m guessing this merchant doesn’t want to use it at all. There are certainly some benefits of electronic payment systems, but clearly they are not for everyone. I imagine that this EZ-Link system was provided free-of-charge to this merchant, so there are no overheads and per-transaction costs involved, but yet he’s reluctant to use it.
Apple Magic Mouse Review
The new Apple Magic Mouse announced earlier in October has started shipping. It’s a pretty, clean, smooth, button-less and seamless mouse just like the Mighty Mouse it replaces. It is even more so, because there’s not even the tiny scroll ball anymore from the Mighty Mouse. The Magic Mouse looks like just a piece of curved acrylic topped white plastic, and an aluminum bottom. It’s possible that people unfamiliar with Apple’s mice might not believe that this device actually functions…
