Comex 2008 Excursion Report

Friday, August 29th, 2008

This is the second day of Comex, and the first time in a long while since I’ve visited a computer fair of this sort. They are just too crowded for my liking. So today’s excursion to Comex was like discovery of a new shopping experience. Like a small kid going to the zoo for the first time. Oh okay, not quite the same thing.

Pre-Comex Shopping

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Another item I acquired during my pre-Comex shopping trip last weekend is this notebook cooler pad. It has two fans, is slightly elevated at the back so that it is tilted forward, and it emits a cool blue hue when it’s running. I know, these things are quite common and indeed I’ve seen them many times, but this is only the second notebook cooler pad that I’ve purchased, so it is still cool to me.

Logitech V320 Cordless Optical Mouse

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

I know Comex starts today, but I somehow ended up at Sim Lim Square last weekend and did some pre-Comex shopping. I bought a bunch of things, including this Logitech V320 cordless optical mouse to use with my notebook at home. Nowadays, everything needs to go wireless. How nice if wireless power can come soon.

On The Second Week Of School

Monday, August 11th, 2008

This is the start of “Week 1″. It is the second week of school at NUS because the semester started with “Week 0″. Yes, how very much like computer people to start counting from zero. Week 1 is where orientation is over and classes officially start. Week 0 at NUS wasn’t overly crowded. Today, I’m seeing congestion everywhere.

Levi’s Jeans At Under $40

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

This pair of Levi’s 514 jeans costs $219 in Singapore. Perhaps a little less with the GSS on, but probably it’s still going to be over $150. I find this horribly expensive to pay for a pair of jeans. I bought this very same pair of Levi’s Jeans at $39.76. This is just a fraction of what you’d have to pay in Singapore stores. Can you guess where did I get the jeans?

The $5 Giordano Sale

Giordano $5 hourly sale

A $5 sale is a sure way to attract crowds of Singaporeans. I just just standing in front of this Giordano outlet at West Mall yesterday and saw this swamp of people flocking to the shop. They had just put up a $5 sign over a wagon of T-shirts. It was some sort of a one-hour special. In a span of about one minute, they drew the crowd pictured in the photo.

School Opens with Shopping Again

First pasar malam of the new term

The new school term has begun, and the Bazaars at the National University of Shopping are back again. It seems there are more stalls too. The LT27 foyer as pictured here, for example, hasn’t been so crowded in a while. The stalls still haven’t changed that much.

Cold Storage is Charged

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Cold Storage at King Albert ParkThis Cold Storage is charged. With static electricity, that is. How many times have I come to this particular branch at King Albert Park and always find myself painfully zapped by static electricity. Touch this — Zap. Touch that — Zap again. Accidentally brush against someone — Zapped too! I have resolved to stop shopping at this branch. :) It doesn’t happen at any other Cold Storage branches, so I wonder what’s so special about this one.
