Back on GB 2.3.6
My SGS2 is now back on Gingerbread, with the KL3 ROM released in December 2011. Suddenly realized it existed after having ICS on the phone for almost a week. KL3 has been pretty good so far. I can’t say yet the battery is better than when I had KI3 with the LP6 modem, but the proportion of time the ROM goes into deep-sleep is pretty good.
ICS for SGS2
Just thought I’d share this Official Android 4.0.3 ICS ROM for SGS2 that has been leaked out. It’s still alpha stage, not quite ready for daily use, but it’s a good sign of progress that Samsung is making on releasing ICS ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S II phone. It’s supposed to be due in 1Q 2012.

iOS Sales Loses to Android and Symbian
I’m not surprised that Apple’s iOS lost to Android in sales units (17.3M vs 60.5M units), but very interestingly, it also lost to Nokia’s Symbian OS (19.5M). This is for Q3 2011. Okay, I know many people were holding off their iPhone purchase in anticipation of the iPhone 4S release (or they thought, the iPhone 5). But still, it looks like Symbian isn’t sinking all that fast. Samsung Wins in US, But Loses in Australia
Engadget reports that Apple’s attempts to block the Samsung Galaxy tablet and phone sales in the US has been blocked. However, they were more successful in Australia, having obtained a one-week extension to the ban on the Samsung Galaxy Tab that was just about to be lifted.
