Yes, Daddy (me) has been bringing baby Vanessa to school. It’s just play school. At home, she often doesn’t want Daddy other than for a few fixed activities. But when there are no other familiar faces around, Vanessa is quite good to daddy. In fact, she is so sweet that her teacher commented that Vanessa is very well behaved. Ha. She doesn’t know how naughty Vanessa can get when she’s at home!
In play school, Vanessa is quite capable of following the class activity without too much assistance from me. Things like taking her name tag, bringing it to the board, and hanging it on the hooks. While other kids usually need some assistance from their parents or caregiver, Vanessa does it all on her own. She does her craft work mostly on her own too (I usually “interfere” only to make sure that there will be less mess for me to clean up…).
Vanessa is quite independent with her food and drinks too. At one of these classes, she finished her entire cup of water. She looked at me. I told her to go ask teacher for more water: point to cup, then point to teacher. Vanessa got off her chair, walked over to teacher, held out her cup toward teacher, and looked up. Of course teacher understood what Vanessa wanted, and she had her cup refilled. Then, Vanessa came back to her seat with the cup. All without Daddy having to get off his comfortable seating place.
The sweetest thing is that Vanessa knows how to give good-bye hugs to her teachers. She stretches out her hands towards the teacher, waits for teacher to pick her up, then rests her head on teacher’s shoulder and wraps her arms around teacher’s neck. I’m sure her teachers must be so delighted.
