The recent few high-profile suicide cases features in our media certainly raises a bunch of questions. Although many people’s reaction are going to be that suicide isn’t the solution, that it’s such a pity to die young, etc, sometimes I wonder if they’ve spent some time to think from that person’s perspective? What’s wrong with suicide? Why isn’t it the solution?
Then, there is the big picture. For example, what is the point of living? Every day we wake up, go about our lives, and then go back to bed at night. We repeat this day after day. At some point, we die. For what purpose are we living?
Some people think they can identify their purpose. Bring joy through music, for example. But at the end, they die. So again, for what purpose are we living?
Some people talk about achievements, about the great people who have achieved so much, about how their create achievements have helped so many others. What’s the point of the achievements when you are dead? What’s in it for yourself?
Living is difficult. Poor people have their problems. Rich people also have their problems. Basically, everyone’s faced with problems. We talk about rising up to face our challenges. We talk about perseverance. For what purpose?
Just some ranting. I’m not trying to encourage suicide.
