Vanessa and Ian on Facebook

04072009090 The two kids now have their own Facebook account. They don’t quite yet have their own email accounts though. Their email addresses are currently aliases that simply forward to my email account. It’s too bad that my preferred Facebook usernames for them have already been taken. Even my preferred usernames for them on Gmail have also been taken up. Yeah, it can never be too early to sign up for these things.

Not too long ago, I was snapping a couple of photos, and my niece asked me if I could email her the photos. I was like, huh? 6 year old girl uses email? But her mummy explained that the email basically forwards to the parents’ email accounts.

Everyone now has email accounts. It’s one of the things of the Internet generation. Even the babies of today need to get their email identities “booked”. It’s almost like we would run out of email addresses. No, we won’t really run out of email addresses, what we’ll run out of are nice email addresses. Do you want to be vanessa@gmail.com or vanessa47@gmail.com? If you buy your own domain, would you rather me@vanessa.com or me@vanessa47.com?

Before year 2000, I was already looking for domains like lzs.com, lzs.org, lzs.net, lai.com, lai.org, and lai.net. No such luck at all. Yes, 3 letter domain names have been sold out for the longest time. It’s getting more and more difficult to find short simple domain names. People are resorting to phrases of words nowadays, but phrases are too long for my liking.
