These promotion apps are not “worthless” apps that no one wants. They are actually popular, well-known apps.
With this promotion like this, I can only imagine that there will be a flurry of app purchases. The 11 billionth download won’t come just around the corner, but surely the download rate will climb tremendously.
App publishers also, I believe, stand to benefit tremendously from this promotion. Just think about it. For just 10 cents only, is it possible that so many more users will purchase the app and generate that more revenue/profits than had the app been priced at whatever it was priced before?
At the apps regular price, it is likely that most users will think about the usefulness of the app, if it will do whatever it is they want from the app, consider other user reviews, its ranking, if it is worth the price, etc. They may even want to compare alternatives.
For just 10 cents, would you need to think so much? I imagine people would buy the even if it were remotely useful. They may buy the app now, even if they don’t need it now, but think it might be useful in future.
Perhaps this promotion might as well be a permanent thing. Apps always at just 10 cents. Maybe some apps could charge a little more. At these prices, people wouldn’t resort to software piracy. Good for consumers, good for software publishers. Everyone’s happy.
The 10 apps released on the first day are:
- SoundHound
- Asphalt 6: Adrenaline HD
- Minecraft – Pocket Edition
- Swiftkey X
- Endomondo Sports Tracker
- Great Little War Game
- Sketchbook Movile
- Fieldrunners HD
- Color & Draw for Kids (Phone)
- Paper Camera
On the second day, there seem to be a bonus, bringing a total of 11 apps to the promotion:
- Beautiful Widgets
- Fruit Ninja
- Reckless Racing
- Star Chart
- Read It Later Pro
- Christmas HD
- AirSync by doubleTwist
- Flick Golf!
- NFL Rivals
- Bedtime Battle
Yeah, it doesn’t seem like the second day apps are as interesting. But still cool. I was looking forward to AirSync by doubleTwist previously. I don’t particularly need it nowadays, but hey, for 10 cents, I’ll just get it.
I hadn’t realized, initially, that there would be 10 new apps each day. I thought it was just a total of 10 apps for the 10 days of promotion. It was still quite a nice deal. But now knowing that there are 10 apps released each day for 10 days, and that we’re looking at 100 apps in total, that’s like really very very nice.
