We went to the newly renovated New Garo Japanese Restaurant for dinner last night. They’ve done up some simple renovations to brighten up the place and make the place feel less congested. It seems like there is less seating now, although that may be because the place just feels more spacious. Still the same staff, and the food is still as good as ever.
It’s funny how blogs have become ever so useful as a community resource. In the afternoon, when I wanted to call the restaurant to make a booking, I went to Google and searched for New Garo Japanese to get a phone number. Guess what? First hit was my colleague’s blog posting. He was good enough to provide the restaurant’s phone number and address. The second hit on the search results was actually my own lifeblog posting from one of my previous visits. I don’t normally include phone numbers or addresses. Maybe I should, since it could come in handy for myself.
This is the California Maki. Quite sizable portions. Very nice. I noticed the rice is hand rolled, not made by machines like at some other sushi places.
This is the Bento Set B. It comprises Unagi, Sashimi (salmon and swordfish), Tempura, Miso soup and fruits. The sashimi is pretty good. The barbecued Unagi was great too.
This is the Chirashi and Gyoza set. Variety of Sashimi scattered on top of Sushi rice. Also comes with Miso soup and fruits. The close-up photo of the Chirashi bowl is at top of this post.
