Mid-Autumn Mooncake Harvest

290920091058It’s going to be the mid-autumn festival this weekend. Over the past week or so, we have been receiving boxes of mooncakes from various corporate partners. The most unique packaging has to be the one from Conrad Centennial (pictured on left). Each mooncake is individually contained in a round box, four of these boxes are stacked into a large cylindrical case. It looks like a tingkat container. The packaging is quite high quality, although it might not be so obvious in my photo (see Keropokman’s post for better illustration).

Nowadays, I’m trying to not indulge too much in mooncakes. There’s just too many of them. A long time ago, my standard was to cut mooncakes in quarters. Now, I’ll just take an eighth. Sometimes, I just decline entirely. In Singapore, we’re also getting too many elaborate localized alternative mooncake recipes. I don’t really like them. For example, why do you bother making an ice cream mooncake? If it’s ice cream you like, just buy ice cream.
