Every time I come to this Chinese restaurant, which isn’t all that often actually, it is always because of some celebration or special event. Birthday dinner, wedding dinner, etc. I suppose this is a pretty well-regarded restaurant. Probably in the league of other 5-star hotel Chinese restaurant, but more affordably priced considering it is a club restaurant.
The occasion for this visit was “Grandmother’s Birthday”. So, the first dish of the night was the mandatory birthday bun.
Our eight-course set dinner menu consisted of:
- Barbecue Peking Duck
- Braised Superior Shark’s Fin Crab Meat & Bamboo Pith
- Steamed Sea Perch with Fresh Chili
- Braised Sliced Abalone with Mushrooms and Vegetables
- Tiger Prawns Served in Two Way (Crispy Prawn’s Head with Salt & Pepper, Prawn with Custard)
- Stir-fried Minced Duck wrapped with Lettuce
- Stir-fried Japanese Noodle with Shredded Meat
- Chilled Mango Pudding
Some photos of the food below.
The Peking Duck is a little different from the usual. Notice in the menu listed above that it is barbecued. Usually, the duck in this dish is roasted. I think the duck’s skin is less crisp this way, but it’s still just as good.
The other interesting dish is the presentation of the Shark’s Fin soup. Usually it is brought to the table served in a large bowl. Well, at this restaurant, this is brought to you served in a large deep plate.
I suppose this way you can see more clearly the generous amounts of Superior Shark’s Fin and Crab Meat that has gone into this dish.
This dinner set for 10 pax costs $718, and comes with a bottle of House Red Wine.
