Disney’s Magic Kingdom

This is the Indy Speedway ride at Disney’s Magic Kingdom at Orlando. Yes, traffic jam. After enduring daily traffic jams in Singapore, do I still want to experience traffic jams in the Magic Kingdom? No, I guess not. I gave the Indy Speedway a pass. (It’s not bumper to bumper traffic all the way, so you do in fact get to drive along at a decent, though in my opinion unsatisfying, speed.)

Today is Day Three in Orlando. It rained again. Three days out of three. As it was in SeaWorld, the rain made moving around inconvenient. Luckily it didn’t last very long, so it didn’t affect the parade show. Disney has more rides. Perhaps it’s wrong expectations from me again, but I found myself comparing with the likes of MovieWorld and Universal in Gold Coast, and thought the rides here at Magic Kingdom weren’t quite so adrenaline-rushing. The thrills are there no doubt, and I did have a lot of fun. Thanks to careful planning and FastPasses, I managed to get through all the “adult quality” rides in about 4 hours.

Surprisingly, I did quite a bit of shopping in Disney. I ended up buying more presents than I had originally set out to do. It must been due to influence from other shopaholics. I think comparatively, Disney does have more merchandise for sale than SeaWorld.

The Disney in Orlando actually comprises 4 parks – Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. I only had time for one park, and I picked the Magic Kingdom because it seems to list the most number of attractions. I understand the newest is Animal Kingdom. If you only have time for one park, it would be a tough choice to pick which one to go to. I kind of find the descriptions too vague to give me a real understanding of what I can expect in the park.

Later in the day, I headed back to check-in to the Cisco Live Networkers conference. The Orange County Convention Centre is huge, nothing like what we have in Singapore. I’ll post more about that another time.
