A Singapore Airlines’ Airbus A380 aircraft will take part in this year’s National Day Parade (NDP) flypast. This will be the airline’s first participation in the NDP flypast. The Airbus A380 will be decked out in special livery to mark the special occasion of Singapore’s 50th National Day.
The themed A380 made an appearance first at the Preview Show last Saturday, ahead of the official flypast during the parade on 9th August. A large 10 m tall by 47 m long Singapore flag-themed design is featured on both sides of the fuselage, official SG50 logos on the inboard engines, and the Majulah Singapura — Our Golden Jubilee logo on the underside.
The airline will have two aircrafts in the special livery through the end of this year, serving routes to Beijing, Hong Kong, London, Mumbai, New Delhi, Shanghai, Sydney and Zurich.
During the Preview Show, the A380 crossed the Marina Bay area at around 6:27 pm from the south-west heading towards a north-eastern direction. According to data from Flightradar24, the aircraft flew at an altitude of 2100 ft as it flew past the Marina Bay area. It’s probably going to be flying the same route on the actual parade day.
If you happen to be staying in the western end of Singapore, with a good view of the skies over Jurong Island, you might have even better luck catching the A380. It looks like, at least prior to the Preview Show on 1st August, the aircraft circled around the area numerous times, from about 5 pm, after having departed from Changi Airport at about 4:50 pm.
Based on tracking data from Flightradar24, the A380 leaves the Jurong Island area at around 6:25 pm. It heads over Sentosa, the Marina Bay area, Geylang, Hougang, along Paya Lebar Air Base, Pulau Ubin, then looping back at Tanjung Langsat Port in Johore (Malaysia).
