I’ve been transferring my domains from GoDaddy to Namecheap as the time came up for their renewals in the last couple of months. I have another domain that is coming up for renewal now. Just coincidentally, Namecheap is currently running a promotion on Facebook, offering a discount coupon for .com/.net/.org domain registrations at the price of just US$1.99. Sounds attractive?

Bidding Goodbye to GoDaddy

After having been buying domain names from GoDaddy since, I think, 2004, I’m now finally beginning to move on to try out some other domain registrar. I haven’t had any real trouble with GoDaddy before, at least not with domain name purchases (I did have some annoyances buying SSL certificates from them). So, if I’m not having problems with GoDaddy, why am I transferring out?

No More GoDaddy SSL Certs For Me

I have used GoDaddy for some years to buy domain names. For SSL certificates, I have been buying from another SSL provider, because GoDaddy wasn’t anywhere near as cheap. But with recent GoDaddy promotions to slash their SSL certificate pricing, I thought I’d give it a try. Now, I am so utterly disappointed with GoDaddy. What should have been a quick and painless process that takes no more than a few minutes has now dragged on for some 20 hours…
