Foam Party Comes to Town

2011-12-05 19.45.50

You don’t have to go over to Sentosa for the famed foam party at Cafe del Mar. There’s one happening right here in the mainland too, right in the heart of town. Well, almost. It’s just outside the main downtown shopping belt. It happens in front of Tanglin Mall, at the junction of Tanglin Road and Grange Road. This is a family-friendly foam party, of course. Completely unlike the one at the (more or less) southern tip of continental Asia.

Cutest and Most Charming Babies

2011-12-01 20.45.12

Sometimes I think my two babies must be the cutest and most charming babies around. When we take them out shopping, they get offered free popcorn, free kuehs, free raisins, free specials that aren’t even on the menu, free this and that. Hmm, okay, not free money yet, that would be something I would love to have. But certainly plenty of free things.

Vacation to Hong Kong

20111015_062117 2

Our family vacation, this year, was to Hong Kong. We spent 8 days, two weeks ago, taking our time to visit the things that tourists visit. The two kids came along. This is the second overseas vacation for Ian. We didn’t bring him on our trip to Japan last year, because we thought it would be too difficult to manage him then. They’re one year older now, and so, okay, we’ll try this year. Overall it was a really fun…

Ian Goes to School

2011-10-05 08.28.13

Ian has started going to school today. It’s the same child care centre that Vanessa attends. He arrived at the centre, loitered around the common area with Vanessa for a while, then was introduced to his classroom. He walked right in, straight for the toys, sat down and started busying himself. This is despite another little boy in the classroom crying his lungs out. When it was time for me and the Wife to head off for work, we called…

Baby Updates

Ian has been going on daddy-son outings several times of late. The Wife and Vanessa got hit with Chicken Pox, so they’ve been quarantined away from Ian. Or, rather, Ian has been quarantined away to keep the Chicken Pox from getting to him. So when there’s free time, like during the weekends, I’ll decontaminate myself, hop over to pick up Ian, and bring him out for some galavanting.

Japan Got Playground?

When I first told Vanessa that we were bringing her to Japan for a holiday, the mind in her had many questions. The first one that popped out (quite instantly, I must add), was, “Japan got playground?” Quite obviously, playground is the highest priority in her list of many logistic concerns. I thought it will be a good idea to note down some of the funny things she has said or asked about concerning this trip.

Happy Children’s Day

Children’s Day started with a happy meal breakfast at McDonald’s. Yeah, just for the kids. Ian’s probably still to little to really care where we bring him to, just so long as we bring him out. For Vanessa, she’s always excited about going to McDonald’s. I know we were all kids once, but now as adults, I just don’t remember what all the excitement was about. Nothing terribly fabulous about their food eh? But for the kids it is just…

Ian and His New Bed

We got Ian a new bed. Roughly about the same one that Vanessa also had. It’s interesting to watch the way kids react in different ways given the same situation. When Vanessa’s bed arrived, she instantly knew exactly what it was, that it was hers, and what to do with it. She went straight to it and dived into it, laid down in prone position, and shall I say, instantly fell in love with her bed. It was a little…

McDonald’s Kids

This is Ian, at McDonald’s some time ago. He looks so delighted to be at McDonald, and particularly, playing with the hot cakes that was supposed to be my breakfast. I think we’re training up two McDonald’s kids… because Vanessa is just as delighted to go to McDonald’s. I wonder why the kids are so attracted to McDonald’s. Perhaps the Happy Meals? I don’t recall the Happy Meals and the toys that come with it during the time when I…

No Share Ice Cream

So we were at MacDonald’s restaurant for a tea time break. Ice cream would be nice. I brought Vanessa to the dessert station and asked what she wanted to have. She gestured toward the McFlurry. Hmm. Her tastes seem to have upgraded. It used to be the vanilla ice cream cone. Then, occasionally, the hot fudge sundae. Now… it’s the biggest size of them all… McFlurry. I made sure I didn’t understand wrongly… yes, she really wanted the McFlurry. Okay.
