We also had California Maki and Agedashi Tofu. The California Maki was only average. The Agedashi Tofu was “okay”.
We had dinner early. The little restaurant had several empty tables when we arrived, but by the time we were done with dinner, the place was quite crowded. It does seem quite popular. We didn’t experience enough of their service to make a good assessment of their standard, but I was surprised about their lack of knowledge of their menu (or perhaps of Japanese food in general). We asked if they had chawanmushi. The first staff said she did not understand English and asked a colleague to help. (Yeah, Chawanmushi is not English anway eh.) The second staff did not know what Chawanmushi is either.
There are quite a number of new eateries at Bukit Panjang Plaza. It goes to show that Singaporean’s dining passion is immune to the economic climate.
