This is the newly opened Bishamon Sapporo Ramen branch at Bukit Panjang Plaza. They take over the unit that used to be occupied by Osim, just opposite Cafe Cartel on level one. I had the shoyu mini-ramen with unagi and tamago donburi set. It costs $16.70 (IIRC). The shoyu soup was tasty. I was told it was slightly spicy, even though I didn’t feel it so myself. The ramen was nice. The unagi was nice too, although there were tiny little bones in it (which is actually fine to swallow, but might be a concern for little children). There was salmon roe on the rice, which made it quite tasty to eat. Overall, I think the set meal was pretty good.
We also had California Maki and Agedashi Tofu. The California Maki was only average. The Agedashi Tofu was “okay”.
We had dinner early. The little restaurant had several empty tables when we arrived, but by the time we were done with dinner, the place was quite crowded. It does seem quite popular. We didn’t experience enough of their service to make a good assessment of their standard, but I was surprised about their lack of knowledge of their menu (or perhaps of Japanese food in general). We asked if they had chawanmushi. The first staff said she did not understand English and asked a colleague to help. (Yeah, Chawanmushi is not English anway eh.) The second staff did not know what Chawanmushi is either.
There are quite a number of new eateries at Bukit Panjang Plaza. It goes to show that Singaporean’s dining passion is immune to the economic climate.

They dun sell chawanmushi there.
Maybe things that are not in the menu, they dun commit it to memory? LOL
Yeah, it’s not on the menu I guess. But I was thinking like how could they not know what chawanmushi is…
