Seafood Harvest by Jack’s Place

080520092795Two Fridays ago, we had dinner at Seafood Harvest. It’s a restaurant by Jack’s Place group located at Bugis Junction. Everywhere was crowded with queues to get in, except for this restaurant. So not wanting to wait, we decided to try out this restaurant. It actually has quite a nice balcony overlooking the lower floor of Bugis Junction, and we were fortunate enough to get a seat in a corner of the balcony.

As we walked into the restaurant, something at another table caught my attention. It looked like the Seafood Platter. It looked good, so that’s what we ordered. It’s $36 for the platter, which is big enough to be shared between two persons. The Seafood Platter was quite good. It comes with fried fish, grilled fish, fried calamari, prawns, scallops, salad (comprising mussels, shrimps and tuna fish), and chips. The meal includes two soups of the day (which we upgraded to the Lobster Bisque for $2 each), ice cream and coffee or tea.

The fried calamari was really nice. The fried fish wasn’t as good, it was not fishy enough for me. The fish from the kid’s meal Fish and Chips was more fishy. I guess it just depends on which part of the fish that got served. Overall the main course items in the Seafood Platter were quite passable, although not spectacular. The upgraded Lobster Bisque was good (we knew, that’s why we upgraded).

I would have preferred the Seafood Platter at Fish and Company. They are almost the same price. Seafood Harvest’s platter could be more value for money considering that you get a complete set meal.

A funny thing when I was paying the bill was that they asked me for my name card. I noticed they did not ask other tables for name cards when they were paying the bill. I wondered if it had anything to do with the photos that I had been snapping throughout dinner. (At least I don’t lug around a huge DSLR to take food photos… that might trigger some panic with the restaurant staff :P)
