Getting Priority Service at Nokia Care

One of the most frustrating things with being a Nokia phone owner is to visit Nokia Care service centres. Nokia Care is so overcrowded, one wonders if Nokia really cares about their customers. In the past, I’ve waited like 15 minutes to get a queue number, before spending another 1.5 hours or so before it was my turn to be served. Then, getting even the simplest of phone repairs to be done would still take 2 or 3 working days….

Upgraded to WordPress 2.5

Ok, I’ve decided to go for it anyway. Yes, despite WPG2 compatibility problems, I’ve upgraded to WordPress 2.5. The problem with WPG2 doesn’t actually break my existing WPG2-inserted photos from Gallery2, or at least no problems that I’ve noticed yet. But it does prevent me from using it in the TinyMCE editor to when writing new posts. Well, hopefully there will be an updated WPG2 soon enough. In the meanwhile, I’ve heard one of the significant new features of WordPress…

WordPress 2.5 is Now Available

WordPress 2.5 has just been released. While there are a number of nice improvements (see my previous blog entry), there are still a number of notable issues with plugin compatibility that are not resolved. In particular, the WPG2 plugin (for integration of Gallery2 photo gallery with WordPress) is quite broken with WordPress 2.5. Do check out the Plugin Compatibility page at Codex. If you are planning to give WordPress 2.5 a try, do remember to backup your files and database!

Nokia N96 Hands-On

A pre-release of the upcoming Nokia N96 has just been reviewed by Russian site Mobile-Review.com. It’s quite a detailed coverage, with plenty of photos from every angle. If you’re in the market to shop for a N95 8GB, N82, or any all-round mobile device that packs everything, you might want to check out the N96 to see if you want to hold out a little bit longer for it to become available here.

Many WordPress bloggers have been anticipating the next major release of the blogging software. There are significant improvements that the WordPress development team skipped the version 2.4 release, and headed straight for version 2.5. WordPress 2.5 RC1 has been released. Is it ready for a spin?

What’s Wrong with “Made in Thailand”

What’s wrong with “Made in Thailand?” It’s funny that we sometimes pass judgement on the quality of a product based on its country of manufacture. However, to see a “Made in Thailand” label that seems to spell an ominous warning, as if there is some danger that you need to be aware of, takes things to a new level.

The New Safari

Apple recently released a new version of their Safari browser, version 3.1. Apple describes the new Safari as blazingly fast, and significantly outperforms the other popular browsers (Firefox 2, Internet Explorer 7 and Opera 9). Okay, cool. I’m ready to try. Particularly since it runs on both Mac and Windows. I regularly use both operating systems, it would be nice to have the same browsing experience.

From Coffee Shop to Restaurant

Casuarina Curry used to be a coffee shop selling prata and briyani, among other things. I guess like many successful eatery, they’ve transformed themselves into a restaurant. Don’t know about the prata but the mutton briyani isn’t as nice anymore. — Posted from my N95 Lifeblog.

SingTel Confirmed to Sell iPhone

The news is out. SingTel will be selling the Apple iPhone from September. I posted earlier this year about the possibility after The Age reported Optus’ exclusive deal to sell the iPhone in Australia. Well, it’s still not clear right now whether it will be the 3G version or not, but I guess if we’re talking about September, a 3G or 3.5G version will likely already be launched by Apple. Personally I’m not terribly excited about the iPhone. But it…
