Copycat Logo

Friday, October 31st, 2008

I was coming home a couple of days ago when I saw this at a bus stop advertisement display. I’ve been playing with Drupal lately, and I just thought how familiar the logo seems to be. For a moment, I was thinking how interesting to see Drupal publicity at a bus stop in Singapore. Check out the Drupal website. Quite some similarities eh?

New Garo Japanese Restaurant

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

We went to the newly renovated New Garo Japanese Restaurant for dinner last night. They’ve done up some simple renovations to brighten up the place and make the place feel less congested. It seems like there is less seating now, although that may be because the place just feels more spacious. Still the same staff, and the food is still as good as ever.

Top Hit for M1 Fixed Broadband Leads Here

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

I am re-evaluating my broadband contract options again, and wanted to find details about M1 Fixed Broadband offers. So I head over to Google to search for M1 Fixed Broadband. Lo and behold… the top hit (at least for now) leads straight back to my own blog posting. I had expected to find M1’s website to be the top hit, but well it turned out to be number 2.

Learning To Blog

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

One of the cute little things that Vanessa tries to do is to type on my notebook. Here’s one of the snapshot that my Nokia N95 8GB phone managed to capture. Looking like a real professional eh? Both parents are quite IT savvy, so the baby must have quite naturally picked up computer skills.

When Helpdesk Is Not Very Helpful

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Don’t you sometimes feel like helpdesks are not very helpful? Or wonder what is the purpose or point of having a helpdesk? I very often do. In fact, sometimes I feel like the objective of helpdesk is not so much as to help customers, but to help its company reduce the number of incidents it actually has to handle. It’s like as if helpdesks have a KPI that measures the number of support calls it successfully turns away.

No More GoDaddy SSL Certs For Me

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

I have used GoDaddy for some years to buy domain names. For SSL certificates, I have been buying from another SSL provider, because GoDaddy wasn’t anywhere near as cheap. But with recent GoDaddy promotions to slash their SSL certificate pricing, I thought I’d give it a try. Now, I am so utterly disappointed with GoDaddy. What should have been a quick and painless process that takes no more than a few minutes has now dragged on for some 20 hours and a bunch of exchanges with GoDaddy’s technical support.

I Just Won 1,575,000 Pounds!

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Amazing! I just got the news that I had won in a Nokia Promo draw. Nevermind that I don’t remember exactly what draw it was. I sign-up for so many things that I don’t remember all of them anyway. The news came in a SMS message, and told me that I had won 1,575,000 Pounds! I would have already been very happy had it been in Singapore Dollars, but hey, 1,575,000 Pounds works out to be over S$4 million!
