From iPad to the New iPad

20120426_123915

The New iPad launched in Singapore on 16 March 2012. That’s a good six weeks ago, a little too late for me to write yet-another-review of the most exciting iPad yet.  But there’s always an opportunity to share personal experiences, even though, then again, I’m sure there are many others like me who are jumping from the 1st generation iPad to the 3rd generation iPad. So here I am, with the new 3rd generation iPad. Coming from the original iPad,…

The New iPad 4G Will Not Work In Singapore

2010-06-21 12.43.08

What a bummer. The new 3rd generation iPad will work in Singapore, of course. You can turn it on, use it, connect to the 3G network. But one of the features touted in this new iPad is the 4G LTE capability, and unfortunately, the LTE frequency bands used by the new iPad are not supported in Singapore. So, there’ll be no 4G LTE connection in Singapore for this new iPad. It’s a little of a let down? But, this might…

Multitasking Arrives on the iPad

Apple’s iOS 4.2.1 has just been released for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. This software update finally brings the iPad capabilities on-par with the iPhone. The most important feature, to me, is multitasking. The idea that the iPad previously could only have one application open, and where starting a new application means the prior one has to quit, was just so absolutely primitive. The iPad’s large screen means you can do quite a bit of work with it, but…

MacAlly BookStand Case for the iPad

Our precious fragile gadgets are often adorned with accessories to protect them against damage. My newly acquired iPad is no exception. So I did some online research, and did some shopping, to figure out what I would get for my iPad. It is not just about the “protection” functionality that matters, but equally important are style and convenience. There are so many choices, starting right from the official Apple iPad Case. It offers pretty good all-around protection. But, in my…

One Week of iPad

It’s about one week since I got hold of my iPad. I didn’t port my life over to the iPad. I still do everything on my MacBook Pro, exactly like it was before I got the iPad. The iPad is entertaining, but at least for me, it isn’t quite changing how I do my typical computer things. I need a console terminal, I need to type a lot, these aren’t the strong points about the iPad. But it’s nice to…

iPad on the Left, iPad on the Right

I was at a meeting today. Person on my left had an iPad. Person on my right also had an iPad. I wasn’t actually looking out to count the number of iPads. But the numbers are swelling. Going out to lunch, I also see iPads around. Everywhere iPad. I think Singaporeans are really sold on to the iPad idea. Just like the iPhone. Apple is really super successful selling the brand here. I can’t wait for an Android tablet, namely…

iPad Launch Day

Today is the Apple iPad launch day. I thought I would write a few words about this much-raved-about product. Personally, I still don’t see why and how this tablet should be so revolutionary. Maybe it is the user experience that makes the difference. Or perhaps it is the magic of Apple’s marketing. All the initial reviews pouring out now are saying lots of wonderful things about the iPad (though I’m sure Apple chose carefully where to send the early iPads)….

iPad – iDisappointed

I fail to be wowed by Steve Jobs latest product announcement, the all new iPad, which is supposedly so revolutionary that it creates a new product category. I guess it still does deserve its own product category, but it is nowhere so revolutionary that the media had hyped it out to be. The name itself doesn’t even sound interesting. In fact, I’m already reading a bunch of jokes about the name even before I finished watching Steve Job’s keynote video.
