Upgraded to WordPress 2.5

Typing on the Powerbook G4 keyboardOk, I’ve decided to go for it anyway. Yes, despite WPG2 compatibility problems, I’ve upgraded to WordPress 2.5. The problem with WPG2 doesn’t actually break my existing WPG2-inserted photos from Gallery2, or at least no problems that I’ve noticed yet. But it does prevent me from using it in the TinyMCE editor to when writing new posts. Well, hopefully there will be an updated WPG2 soon enough. In the meanwhile, I’ve heard one of the significant new features of WordPress 2.5 is its built-in gallery system. Photo Matt claims to have already uploaded more than a thousand photos. I’ll see how cool it is as I try to live without WPG2.

  1. How have you found it? I’m not using 2.6 yet as I use WPG2 no only for embedding pictures, but also as my main gallery. I’d be interested to know how you’ve got around the problems.

  2. Nope. I realized that whatever has been embedded still works. So for now, new posts I just upload new photos using WP’s built-in mechanism. I also use Gallery as my main gallery, though I haven’t updated it in a while. I guess I’m looking at two options moving forward:

    1. Maintain Gallery independently from WP. Clumpsy.

    2. Perhaps look at using NextGEN. And risk the problem possibly happening with NextGEN in future too. 😛
