This is the Mee Goreng at the Lotus Cafe in Angsana Bintan. It is quite delicious. The extra satay and chicken came as unexpected extras. Crackers included too, although the big serving of crackers in the photo is served as a starter.

Vinton G. Cerf, Google’s Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist, came by NUS to give a talk on Tracking The Internet Into The 21st Century. If you didn’t know, he’s also known as the Father of the Internet. Not unexpectedly, the turnout was overwhelming.

At $11.70, this is arguably the most expensive canteen food at NUS. But it is really good. This is the ribeye steak from Aston Express at PGP canteen. Juicy, tender, and just the right doneness.

I’ve always found it rather amusing, even hilarious, to listen in on computer sales people trying to make sense of technology to the non-PC literate consumer. For example, this afternoon I was just overhearing a customer asking if a certain notebook would be able to play “all games”. The sales person replied, referring to the 160GB hard disk in the specifications, that there will be no problem with any games. Yes, I know, what has 160GB disk got to do with game software compatibility?

I had lunch at Sun Asian Bistro with a big bunch of colleagues a couple of days ago. It’s the restaurant down at NUS Staff Club. Some of my colleagues had actually been there twice already (it’s a new restaurant, so for them to want to go there the third time must be quite worthwhile). I guess one of the attraction is the 50% discount they are currently offering as part of their opening promotion.

This is the black angus steak at Sun Asian Bistro at NUS. I was attracted by the 50% discount, but it was still not good enough value. The steak was served only luke warm, still cold some parts, and undercooked. I hear their Asian fare was better.
