A couple of nights ago, we headed over to Harry’s for dinner. That’s the Harry’s pub at Rail Mall, pretty close to where we stay. I think they’ve been open there for over a year now, and even though we go past it every now and then wondering where to dine when we’re at Rail Mall, we’ve somehow never picked Harry’s. So this is our first visit to this outlet. Rail Mall has been slowly transforming into a F&B location the likes of Holland Village. Most of the businesses that quit in recent years were non-F&B, and the new ones that take their place seem to be exclusively F&B related.
Harry’s is a chain of pubs and restaurants. The outlet here at Rail Mall is not too different from the others in terms of its menu and decor. The clientele look different though. Perhaps because it is located outside the usual hot spots, near residential areas, and with no MRT or other major activity centres nearby, most of the patrons to this Harry’s are most likely nearby residents. I’m guessing that from the dress code. People are dressed quite casual. Sandals, bermudas, etc. Not quite the dress fashion you’d find in a pub at Clarke Quay.
It reminds me of the Mexican restaurant at 108 Faber Drive. It’s set in a row of shop houses in the middle of a private housing estate. Most of the people there seem to be too casually attired for the restaurant. The food was good.
Harry’s food is good too. There are beginning to be too many choices at Rail Mall, so unfortunately Harry’s doesn’t really stand out. Unless perhaps you want a drink. Then, I think, the only other dinner place that has drinks is Blooie’s Roadhouse.
