I always through Maclaren was something about Formula 1 racing. I was surprised that the top few search matches for “Maclaren” from Google were in fact about the baby stroller company. Ok, I just learned: The Formula 1 guy is McLaren. Just slightly different spelling.
Anyway, here’s Baby Vanessa out for a walk in her new Maclaren stroller. She doesn’t look too pleased in here, probably a bit grouchy from just having woken up from her sleep. We just got this stroller from Robinson’s Christmas sale a few days back.
Yes, on Christmas day, when the Robinson’s store opens at 12 noon, the place was already overflowing with people at 12 noon. The car park at Centrepoint was already full before 12 noon. I guess 12 noon is pretty late, even if that’s only when the store opens, so many people had already come to town to start their shopping.
We were comparing two strollers… this Maclaren one as well as another Aprica stroller. It seems generally Maclaren strollers are better built, more sturdy, and rolls around smoother. It does lack a front bar though (which could be a good thing… easier to put baby into stroller). When it came time to pay… would you believe it, the paying queue at the kids floor snaked around and reached the lift lobby!
Interestingly, if you check out the specs at Maclaren’s web site, the Quest Sport stroller we have is supposed to have a 15kg child capacity, and then stated in parenthesis “U.S. 25kg”. The store sales assistant did tell us 25kg too. U.S. babies are subject to different standards from U.K. babies?
So far Vanessa seems to be more comfortable with this stroller than her previous one (which *ahem* went missing). It is about time she got used to sitting in a stroller, because she is getting quite heavy. 🙂
Another great place I found to get some information on Maclaren Strollers is at http://www.maclaren-stroller-reviews.com.
I’ve only recently purchased a maclaren techno classic stroller and I’ve got to say, my baby’s loving it.
