Today it’s one month since we’ve been without a maid at home. I’m quite surprised we managed to make do without our maid for one whole month. It was originally going to be just 14 days of home leave, and we were already thinking like what are we going to do for the 14 days. Then something happened, and we decided we needed to change, and then some further complications arose, so things got delayed further and further. From 14 days, it’s now 1 month (and about 1 day, actually).
No maid for one month meant some things had to be sacrificed. No time to watch TV anymore. I think I only watched ONE episode of CSI in the whole month. We were very late for work everyday. Our dogs were “outsourced”.
It’s a good thing that Vanessa has started childcare, so there’s lots of activities to keep her occupied in the day. Then she stays with my in-laws after childcare until we pick her up at night. We imagined that she would be tired out, but often she’s still quite full of energy. (Then, she sleeps a lot during the weekend… must be following my trait (weekdays can sleep less, but weekend is for catching up on sleep.)
The most surprising thing was that Vanessa was not as difficult to look after as we had imagined. But there were still challenges. Like for a period of time, she adamantly refused to put on her diapers, and getting her dressed up for school (or for anything at all) took enormous amounts of time. But she’s been getting better. Lately, for example, she willingly gets out of her bathtub (it used to take a lot of coaxing to get her out of the tub). Or perhaps she’s just really bored with how I bathe her, so she can’t wait to get out. Heh.
