Beggars Are Quite Choosy

photo-11We had something to dispose of and my wife thought to call the Salvation Army. We had an old sofa that we could donate to them. Now, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with our sofa. Other than the fabric being slightly dirty, the sofa was otherwise in very good condition. I was quite surprised that the Salvation Army actually said they wanted to view it first before deciding if they wanted to take it! Here we have people happy donate a piece of usable furniture, but there they were choosing that donations they want to accept.

As I said, there’s really nothing wrong with the sofa. We did not want it anymore because it was taking up too much space. We needed more room in the house now, and we’ve gotten a smaller-sized sofa. So there’s this older sofa to dispose of.

The Salvation Army folks came, viewed the sofa, and decided they did not want it. The reason? We did not have an extra set of covers to go along! How ridiculous.

In the end, we had to pay them to remove the sofa for disposal. I really wonder if it would actually be disposed of, or it would end up being used somewhere after all.

I’m a little miffed, because it’s like I’m being told that the sofa I’ve been using is really that crappy.

  1. Don’t you know that Salvation Army has been upgrade, they don’t any how accept donations even when things are still in good use…

  2. The Salvation Army here has too much donations. They are having some kind of attitude nowadays. I say dun waste ur time, put ur donations somewhere else.
