First Chrome, Now Stainless

The browsers war is heating up again. It’s not Internet Explorer vs Mozilla anymore. There are many now many new players. Hot the heels of the recently announced Google’s Chrome, we now have Stainless from Mesa Dynamics. Yes, it seems the name and the browser is inspired by Chrome. While Chrome does not currently run on Mac OS X, Stainless seems to be the Chrome answer for Mac OS X users.

The Most Grotesque Baby Face

The first time I saw this baby face, my first reaction was one of disgust. I looked at it again. Definitely the most grostesque face I’ve seen. It is totally shocking. What in the world is this doing on a poster? On a shop front in an Orchard area shopping centre? I was thinking perhaps it was one of those “shock” advertisements, like how cigarette packs here carry grotesque photos to discourage people from smoking. But it was nothing of…

The First Ever F1 Night Race

The first ever Formula 1 night race has concluded with Fernando Alonso taking the first place. Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton took the 2nd and 3rd place respectively. It’s quite an exciting race with 2 crashes, and an unfortunate incident in the pitstop when Felipe Massa drove off with the fuel hose still attached to his car. I’m glad to have caught all the action on TV. I’d bet those who shelled out money for tickets to the race would…

F1 Starts Off With Practice Sessions

Tonight marks the start of the first ever night F1 night race, and the first F1 street race in Asia, with two practice sessions held in the evening. It is still on-going now as I write this, and here’s a photo of the race circuit in action. I think there’s probably a lot of excitement amongst everyone in Singapore to be a part of this event that has certainly put Singapore in the spotlight.

iPhone 3G Non-Contract Price Revealed

More information about the non-contract price of the iPhone 3G has been revealed. Recall that I previously posted news about the non-contract iPhone 3G price from AT&T at US$599 and US$699 respectively for the 8GB and 16GB models. The new information comes from the online Apple Store itself, which gave prices for the non-contract and unlocked iPhone 3G. It seems to be slightly more expensive than AT&T’s, probably because AT&T’s iPhone 3G will still be locked to the carrier.

The N95 8GB Camera Protection

The issue of the N95 8GB camera cover, or the lack thereof, has repeatedly come up many times over. Most people want the camera cover back, because it keeps the camera window from getting dirtied and scratched. I kind of think so too. It’s a pity that the N95 8GB, with a pretty fine camera and lens for a camera, should have been designed without any protection for the camera.

Hubbing With The HubStation

After some months of procrastination, we’ve finally gotten around to getting ourselves a HubStation. StarHub markets the HubStation as a 3-in-1 device that lets you watch TV, surf the Internet and make phone calls. Actually, it’s main feature is really about TV, in particular its DVR and interactive TV functions. At the risk of sounding so ‘suaku’, the DVR and interactive TV are really cool. (Yah, no DVR at home until now… other than the one plugged in my PC.)

Software v30.0.018 for N95 8GB

The Nokia N95 8GB seems to be getting fairly regular software updates. That’s a good thing, since each new version introduces new features, updates existing features, improves functionality, or fixes problems. The last software update was v20.0.016 and was released about 5 months ago. The latest software is now v30.0.018 which seems to have been released since 4 September 2008 (yeah, I’m a bit slow to pick it up this time around).

The Coziest Starbucks Outlet

This is probably the coziest Starbucks I’ve seen and been to in Singapore. It has a nice ambience and homely feeling. The tall bookshelf is a nice touch. There is plenty of sofa seating too, so you can get really comfortable relaxing while having a drink. Surprisingly, this place is not crowded at all, even though its is quite centrally located. The peace and quiet is really nice. I’m wondering if it is like this all the time, or if…
