It’s amazing how difficult it can be to use Microsoft World. It works for simple few pages documents. But once you have hundreds of pages, with lots of massive drawings and annotations, it becomes quite painful. It’s really a big struggle if you’ve got to work at it for days and weeks. You’ve got to fight with it over the formatting of lists, the numbering of items, the pagination, the table layouts, etc. Isn’t Microsoft Word supposed to make things…

Vanessa at NUSS Guild House
Here’s Vanessa with her daddy recently at the NUSS Guild House in Suntec City. We, and wifey, were there for dinner. Vanessa wasn’t very interested in her food that day, so we had to bring her to walk around the place a little to keep her entertained. Most of the time Vanessa’s quite happy to indulge in her food, but there are times when she’s less interested.
This is Papa and That is Mama
To my cute little Vanessa, the Nescafe is Papa, and the Milo is Mama. She looks at the Nescafe can, points at it, and excitedly exclaims “Papa!”, and similarly “Mama!” for the Milo can. Why? That’s because Papa drinks Nescafe, and Mama drinks Milo.
Cafe On The Ridge
Recently, I went with a few colleagues to have lunch at Cafe On The Ridge. Despite its name, it’s not actually on any ridge (being at the bottom of a ridge doesn’t quite count) and there is no ridge to be seen. But the place is really quite nicely decorated. It looks like quite a chic place, but food prices are reasonable. Service is up to expectations.
Cisco Career Certifications
We just started running the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) courses in our new Cisco Networking Academy programme. CCNA is just one of the many Cisco Career Certifications which are quite valued in the workforce. It’s quite a helpful piece of paper for fresh graduates to better market themselves when they look for their first job. Definitely more valuable than certifications like MCSE, although of course the certifications are not about the same things.
How Can Caterers Be Late?
Punctuality is surely not a good trait of Singaporeans. But there are certain professions where you cannot tolerate lateness. Catering may not be a very “glam” job, but everyone expects their food to arrive on time. Today’s tea that usually arrives at about 3pm to be ready to be served at 3:30pm was late. It was so late, it only came at 4:30pm. That was very bad.
Vanessa’s Latest Posessions
In the recent weeks, Vanessa has been displaying quite a bit of possessiveness of the people around her. Like, for example, when she’s holding Mummy’s hands, Papa cannot hold Mummy’s hands. Can’t even touch! Otherwise Vanessa will try to pry apart the hands finger by finger. On the few occasions she wants to hold Papa’s hands, then Mummy cannot hold or touch Papa’s hands. Sometimes, we try to trick her: When she doesn’t want to hold Papa’s hands, Papa will…
Apple’s Big Sale Is On Today
Apple’s Red Wednesday Sale is on today. This is our equivalent of the Black Friday sales that they have in the US and other countries. This is a one day sale event at theĀ Apple Online Store, and unlike in the US, it does not extend to Apple resellers. I’ve looked through some of the discounted items, and my take on the overall sales promotion is that it doesn’t inspire excitement and an instant desire to go on a shopping spree….

Apple’s Red Wednesday Sale
Just like they have the Black Friday sales in the US and other countries, we will get our Red Wednesday sale. It is a one-day sale event at the Apple Online Store taking place on 14 January 2009. Unlike in the US, the sale does not extend to Apple resellers, and since there are no physical Apple retail stores in Singapore, you’ll have to do your shopping online. Discounts are usually quite attractive. I understand from a colleague that even…
