To my cute little Vanessa, the Nescafe is Papa, and the Milo is Mama. She looks at the Nescafe can, points at it, and excitedly exclaims “Papa!”, and similarly “Mama!” for the Milo can. Why? That’s because Papa drinks Nescafe, and Mama drinks Milo.
We’ve been bringing Vanessa on walks around our home, making a stop at one of the vending machines, and giving her some coins to put into the coin slot (which, incidentally, she can barely reach but she tries very hard). She knows by now which one Papa wants and which one Mama wants. She can’t reach the buttons to select the drink yet, so we’ll press it for her. Then when the drink drops out, she’ll take it out, and exclaim “Papa” or “Mama”. I usually bring her for the vending machine trips, so if it is Papa’s drink, she’ll excitedly hand it over to me. If it is Mama’s drink, she’ll hand it over to Mama once she reaches home. I try to correct her: “No, this is Papa’s drink, it is not Papa”… but Vanessa can’t be bothered…
The vending machine stop is so important that Vanessa will drag me toward the direction if I take too long a detour around the area. Sometimes I pretend to “act blur”… and Vanessa will have such a disbelieving look on her face that her Papa doesn’t remember about the vending machine. Hehe.
