Cafe On The Ridge

110320092195The Orange Gunner served up by the Cafe on the Ridge looked odd (photo on left). Can you guess what’s wrong with it? The slice of orange has been stuffed onto the rim of the glass wrongly. The “reference” picture in their promotional flyer shows it done the right way, but apparently the person who prepared the drink didn’t care very much about getting it right.

You’d think this is common sense. Have you ever seen orange skin stuffed into the drink, leaving the juicy orange pulp hanging outside the glass?

This is one of the F&B outlets at the new (well, about half a year old by now) NUSS Kent Ridge Guild House. They sort of replace the Kingfisher Cafe at the former Kent Ridge Guild House. I used to be very impressed with the food and service at their various F&B outlets, but unfortunately, it seems like they have trouble keeping up to the same standard as before. It’s still quite value for money, the ambience is nice, and the place is clean and modern (it’s new, so it had better be). Just that I’ve come to expect more.

I ordered Nasi Goreng Kampung. It’s something that I almost invariably end up ordering. It’s nice. But it’s not hot enough. Nevermind that it’s not spicy hot enough. But it wasn’t hot in terms of the temperature either. Okay, maybe I’m beginning to nitpick. Perhaps I need to readjust my expectations.
