We were recently at Astons Specialties for lunch. This is the branch at Cathay. We were there at about 12:30pm on a Sunday, and there was a moderately long queue formed up outside the restaurant. I was slightly surprised, because I didn’t consider Cathay to be such a frequented area. But anyhow, we didn’t have to queue very long, because a big group left and a lot of tables were freed up.
We ordered two mains. A Lamb Chop and a Ribeye. The standard set comes with choice of two sides (nearly a dozen to choose from). The soup was an extra order. The soup was nice, although not particularly spectacular. The lamb and ribeye, though, were really good. Just like at other Astons.
Until now, the only Astons I had eaten at was the Astons Express at NUS, in one of the canteens at Prince George Park. The food was good, and the price was reasonable. Hmm, those are understatements. Their food was great. The Steaks are really tender and succulent. They were also very good value for money. But that outlet has since closed down. I’ve since been thinking to try Astons again in one of their restaurants outside.
