BBQ Buffet at Angsana

While we were at Angsana Bintan, we decided to try the BBQ Buffet at one of their restaurants, Pantai Grill & Bar. I like to eat variety, so a buffet is nice. Now, usually I have certain ideas about what BBQ entails. Afterall, there are quite a lot of things that you can barbeque. But it seems at Angsana, BBQ involves a rather limited selection of food. Look at the photo, that’s the entire selection of BBQ items!

Seven out of the eight items on the BBQ list are satay. The only item aside from satay is a fish kebab. If you asked me, there were only two BBQ items: satay and kebab! What happened to, say, sambal stingray?

Oh well, luckily there were other item on the buffet. A particularly interesting one is this traditional Indonesian pancake. You can have chocolate or cheese on it. I forgot what the third item was. I enjoyed the cheese one, over which I poured some vanilla sauce.

The Pantai Grill & Bar is an alfresco dining setup on the beach. There was a spotlight behind where I was seated… so all my food was in my shadow, unfortunately. The ambience is nice, and the price is “ok” (about US$35 iirc for the buffet).
