The stock Google Camera that came with the Nexus 5X seems to get a little sluggish from time to time. It gets a little disappointing when you need to take a quick photo, but find that the Nexus 5X can’t catch up. Well, it seems that a software fix was needed, and Google released an update today.
If you’re finding your Google Camera app slow, not just on the Nexus 5X but also the Nexus 5, 6, 9 and 6P, check your Play Store for updates. The new Google Camera app lists the following changes:
- For Nexus 5, 6, 9, 5X, and 6P: New user interface updates: Improved startup times, fast switching between photo and video mode, easy access to photo modes from top-left menu
- Nexus 6, 5X, and 6P only: Auto-HDR+ mode for enhanced shots in low-light and backlit scenes
- Nexus 5X and 6P: Slow motion video capture
- Nexus 6P only: SmartBurst
The Nexus 5X won’t do the new SmartBurst feature like the 6P can, which is used to capture a stream of photos and automatically turn them into animated GIFs.
