This will be the first time ever I’ve seen a set meal that includes coffee ‘O’, tea or a soft drink, but not milk for the coffee. Look at the menu. No doubt, they were up front about milk for the coffee not being included. But I thought how absurd. Probably something I’m misunderstanding about the menu. No milk for the coffee? My goodness, how much can milk cost? Trying to save some meagre cost in this economic downturn?
So of course I had to ask about the milk. I was told I’d have to pay 40 cents more for the milk. I.e. $5.90 instead of $5.50 for the set meal if I wanted milk in my coffee. How absurd!
40 cents for milk! This is like restaurants wanting to charge for plain tap water.
Oh, this eatery is in NUS. I shan’t name it. But their workflow and processes are really horrid. In a previous visit, they served me the wrong meal. Instead of remedying the mistake, they convinced me that the wrong meal was actually more delicious and that I should take it. Not wanting to wait further, I allowed myself to be convinced.
This time my colleague who was with me ordered black pepper beef rice. They were out of rice, but tried to sell him the Nasi Lemak’s coconut rice to go with the black pepper beef. He went along with it. His meal came out with beef in sambal sauce. Yeah, there was some meagre bits of black pepper in there, but there was so much more sambal. It looks and tastes quite different from what you’d expect of “black pepper beef rice”.
