Vanessa Having Fun With Water

We brought Vanessa to the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden last weekend for some photo taking. At the end of it, she (and the other kids) were playing around in the water feature. Vanessa was having so much fun with the water. She tried to stand exactly where the water would land on her face. Then, she was practically tasting a bit of all the water that was spouting out from all over the water feature.

Choosing A WP Theme Is Difficult

Choosing a theme for my WordPress blog is surprisingly difficult. I don’t consider myself fussy. Although I do have very specific characteristics and features that I want, I don’t consider them very unusual or unreasonable. I’ve been looking and searching, but it seems like there are really few themes that meet my requirements. I’ve been tempted time and again to spin my own theme, but they aren’t exactly trivial tasks either.

Age Discrimination At This Restaurant?

Our government is trying to encourage businesses to employ senior citizens. Not so much as to prefer senior citizens, but so long as they are suitably qualified for the job, age should not be seen as a discriminating factor. Discrimination based on sex, race, religion, country of origin and age is a big thing (a big “no no”, that is) in some countries. But some of the businesses in Singapore are still a bit blatant about the discrimination in their…

Ultimate Solution To National Service

Did you read today’s Straits Times? As I was reading this article, I thought to myself, isn’t this the ultimate solution to the perennial problem of manpower shortages to staff our army? This could be a great way to reduce the national service liability for Singaporean men. In particular, the so-called years or cycles of “operational ready” national service could be reduced once there is less pressure on manpower demand.

Mindef Advertisement On My Blog

I was quite surprised today, while browsing through my own blog, to find an advertisement for the SAF. How curious that the contents of my blog could have been deemed suitable for the placement of an army advertisement. How odd, considering that most of us conscripted into the army really don’t quite like the army. I know, after you’ve been through it, it doesn’t seem all that bad, but I’m sure those still in it think otherwise.

One Week After iPhone 3G

Apple claims to have sold 1 million units of the new iPhone 3G in the first weekend of its launch. Just three days to sell 1 million units. I find it incredible, considering that there were so many complaints of delays due to activation problems. Many things have been happening with Apple the past week. Some good, some not so good.

WordPress 2.6

WordPress 2.6 has been officially released today. One of the highlights of this version is a new revision tracking mechanism for posts and pages. Also, there’s support for Google Gears. Most of the other changes are minor (though all still important ingredients for a better blogging platform). There’s also a 3 min 29 sec video about the 2.6 features if anyone is interested to watch.

Vanessa Loves To Order Food

A few days ago, we were at the Crystal Jade Shanghai Restaurant at Changi Airport Terminal 3. Vanessa asked for the menu (yes, she can… just need to stretch out her hand, the menu comes to her), and she starting flipping the cover. Page one was this full page photo of dumplings. She was glued onto the page. I tried to flip to other pages to point out there were other foods in the menu too. But she quickly turned…
